Fruitku drink from Thailand
The fruitku drink from Thailand is one of the 1st things we have tried. It was a bottle of strawberry flavoured drink.
Our initial thought was "ummm there's bits floating in it" (which usually in the UK means it has gone off!) so we thought we were off to a bad start. B hit google and the bits are meant to be in it. Aside from our initial thought the drink actually looked nice and the floating bits had a sort of sparkle to them See the image with the bottle. We wern't sure what the bits were and again hit google - the bits are listed as Nata de coco which translates to fermented coconut (lovely!!!)I decided to try and eat one of the bits - they are sort of like a chewy jelly. B thought i had gone mad but i did manage to get him to eat 1 as well. See the glass below which shows the floating bits closer up.
The drink is very sweet tasting and is easier to swallow if you strain out the chunks. (I'm pretty sure that they dont do this in Thailand). It became sickly very quickly and we only had a shot glass full. The strawberry flavour which we tried is actually made from watermelon and not strawberry, i'm sure this makes sense somewhere.
B found info online that says it is used linked to a cocktail but it doesnt have alcohol in it, i said i think it would taste nice with vodka.
Mum - taste 4/5, texture 2/5, smell 5/5, appearance 4/5
