Buttermilk toffee (South Africa)

 Buttermilk toffee (South Africa)

These buttermilk toffees are about 5cm square by about 1/2cm deep. They come in a blue wrapper.

We weren't sure what to expect but as we like toffee thought we would be onto an ok thing.

Upon opening them we were met with a white sweet - errrr is this right? hit google to find out and yes they are white. (most toffees in the UK are brown!) They didn't smell of toffee at all but milk, that was it. The texture was a smooth chewy sweet (think like refresher bars). The taste wasn't good, well me and B didn't think it was, we both said it was like a nasty milk and left a strange taste in your mouth. B's Dad thought they were really nice and reminded him of a milk bar that he had a child. So he has been given the rest of them.

This is not a sweet we would eat again.

Ratings:

Mum - taste 1/5, texture 3/5, smell, 4/5, appearance 3/5

B - taste 1/5, texture 3/5, smell 3/5, appearance 3/5

these almost matched.

B's Dad said aside from apearance he would rate them 5s, the word toffee makes you think brown not white.
